This program will provide the blood bank staff person or researcher with a basic review of reagents. It will enhance their skill level in discussions regarding new and innovative test methods currently available and those coming in the future. Specifically, the first presentation will be a review of enhancement media by one of the world’s experts. One presentation will focus on automation available from the two preeminent US manufacturers. The third presentation will focus specifically on Rh and take us on a tour through time up to the present molecular methods which are redefining how we think about the Rh system. The last talk will lead us into the not-too-distant future for reagents and their use. This program is designed for all-around education of the methodologies used in transfusion science, both manual and automated, current and future.
