DESCRIPTION
This session will review the recent progress in strategies to move away from dependence on donors for blood cells and vascular tissues through the development of culture based replacements. The presenters will discuss the generation of platelets or red blood cells from culture based methods as well as the application of tissue engineering to the in vitro preparation of blood vessels.
