DESCRIPTION
This session provides a review of the protocol for the multi-center, randomized, controlled clinical trial sponsored by the Transfusion Medicine/Hemostasis Clinical Trials Network and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI): Determination of the optimal prophylactic platelet dose strategy to prevent bleeding in thrombocytopenic patients. Also included is a description of the multi-center, randomized, controlled clinical trial sponsored by Canadian Blood Services: The effect of maintaining an increased hemoglobin concentration on the frequency of bleeding in thrombocytopenic patients.
