DESCRIPTION
Officials from Canadian Blood Services will highlight a high school curriculum that was developed with the school board for 11th grade Biology students. Students are taught about blood donation and blood typing, in an effort to encourage them to give blood when they turn 17. Representatives from Carter BloodCare will discuss their high school automation program and explain how to "sell" automation to school administrators and students and describe the success they've achieved.

OBJECTIVES

  • List ways to attract and interest high school students in donating blood prior to their 17th birthday
  • Discuss ways to incorporate blood donations into the high school curriculum by working with School Boards
  • Explain how to implement automation for high school blood drives
