DESCRIPTION
Several US facilities have now implemented ISBT 128 labeling. This short topic will explore the benefits and challenges faced by both transfusion services and blood centers in the implementation of ISBT 128 labeling. The speakers have hands-on experience in the implementation process and will share those experiences with the audience.

OBJECTIVES

• Discuss ISBT 128 implementation issues from both blood center and transfusion service perspectives
• List resources that may be used to support implementation of ISBT 128
• Discuss the benefits of ISBT 128 labeling
• Describe the challenges and the solutions discovered in the implementation of ISBT 128 at two US facilities
