DESCRIPTION
Traditional flow-charting has limited application. Value-stream mapping tracks processes that take raw materials and information and turn them into products and services that customers demand. By observing and capturing the flow of information and resource materials used, one can visually display the interactions in a current state map and identify improvement opportunities to build an achievable future state map and improvement plan. OBJECTIVES
- Describe the icons that represent a process and inventory
- List three examples of a metric that could be collected in a process icon
- Describe a basic tool that results in implementation of a future state map
