DESCRIPTION
This session will feature various apheresis technologies used to selectively remove plasma molecules for new disease treatments including the HELP system for hearing loss, acute myocardial infarct and stroke, double filtration for macular degeneration, Ig-Therasorb for dilated cardiomyopathy, ADA column for inflammatory bowel disease and matisse for sepsis. In addition, the use of apheresis for hematopoietic progenitor cell collection will be reviewed, as well as current and new potential applications for photopheresis. Last, an update on a multi-center study on thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura will be presented. OBJECTIVES
- Describe at least four new apheresis technologies used for new disease treatments
