DESCRIPTION
The faculty will present current information on military blood program initiatives, along with blood research and development efforts. Several speakers will provide updates on the ongoing military operations in the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific. In addition, there will be an update on new developments within the military`s blood computer system, the Defense Blood Standard System (DBSS). At the conclusion of the session, there will be individual breakout sessions for those interested in specific issues relating to the Armed Services Blood Program. OBJECTIVES
- Describe the current military operations, blood support to deployed troops and lessons learned from recent experiences
- Discuss the new initiatives and explain how they are shaping the future of the Armed Services Blood Program
- Outline the new developments within the military's blood computer system operations
- Review current research and development efforts regarding blood products
