DESCRIPTION
This session will consist of lectures using slides and handouts to convey the basic information concerning apheresis certifications. Practice exams will be administered to represent the types of questions included in the donor phlebotomy technician, apheresis technician, and hemapheresis practitioner exams.

OBJECTIVES

• Define the categories of certification offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and describe the experience and education required for each certification
• Explain the concept of computer adaptive testing
• Describe the process of applying for certification
• Complete practice exams representing each of the three certification levels
