DESCRIPTION
Lectures in this session will address laboratory monitoring and support of the patient with coagulopathy. The first speaker will review the coagulation mechanism and the limitations of current screening tests. Subsequent speakers will address the role of FFP and recombinant factor VIIa through discussion of current medical literature concerning the efficacy of FFP for perioperative management and both the case series and published randomized trials concerning recombinant factor VIIa use.
