DESCRIPTION
This program will give donor recruiters and blood donor collection specialists a general understanding of the technology and techniques used in modern blood banking. It will prepare them to be able to discuss blood banking practices and principles with donors, the media, and the general public. The program will include a discussion of basic immunohematology, the laboratory application of infection disease testing technology, and the manufacturing principles involved in blood component production. The presentation will also provide an update on new technologies such as pathogen reduction, blood substitutes, and other developing technologies.
