DESCRIPTION
This session will provide a comprehensive review of methods for collection, processing and reinfusion of shed blood. The speakers will review indications and contraindications for collection of shed blood. The efficacy of blood conservation including consideration of allogeneic transfusion sparing and economic savings will be reviewed. Quality systems including personnel training, product quality control and preparation for AABB Perioperative Program Assessment will be reviewed.
