DESCRIPTION
This session will provide current information about the mechanisms and laboratory evaluation of hemostasis. It will provide updated information on the regulation of coagulation in the body by cell surfaces, the functions of platelets in hemostasis and thrombosis and to what extent laboratory testing reflects the process in the body. It will also provide current information on the occurrence of heparin-associated thrombocytopenia.
