DESCRIPTION
Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a significant complication of transfusion. This session will provide information on the history of TRALI from the earliest case reports, through the definition of the clinical syndrome to strategies to reduce the risk of TRALI in the future. Additionally, current information regarding the probable mechanisms of TRALI and the use of plasma from male donors to potentially reduce the risk of TRALI will be presented.
