DESCRIPTION
This event will focus extending the concept of zero risk of blood transfusion to the patient's bedside. It will include presentation by those with expertise in blood utilization, error reporting and the use of Transfusion Safety Officers. The emphasis will be upon methods of improving the safety of the process of transfusing the appropriate blood component to the correct recipient, rather than merely focusing upon the pharmaceutical purity of the blood in the bag.
