DESCRIPTION
Many in the healthcare industry and in blood establishments (blood banks, transfusion services, blood donor centers) recognize the value LEAN manufacturing might bring to their organization. However, many struggle to understand and more importantly apply the basic concepts of LEAN. This program will provide an overview of LEAN and the tools and methodologies that comprise LEAN manufacturing. The presenters will describe these methodologies and when each can be used to yield direct performance and process improvement in the workplace. Tools such as value stream mapping, process flow, Kaizen events, batch vs. flow, value-add and non-value add analysis and others will be discussed. Additionally, suggestions on how to get started using these methodologies on your own will be provided.
