DESCRIPTION
This workshop will address our evolving concepts of how the hemostatic process occurrs in the body and how that differs from how aspects of coagulation are assessed in our common coagulation tests. The speakers will discuss newer views of hemostasis that place an emphasis on the key roles of cells in controlling the coagulation reactions and preventing thrombosis. They will also present new data on the role of the hemostatic process in setting the stage for effective wound healing. The session will feature approaches to evaluating platelet disorders and some difficult clinical scenarios.
