DESCRIPTION
This educational program will provide a broad overview of the biology of stem cell trafficking and mobilization with particular emphasis on the difficult to mobilize patients. Factors and diseases associated with mobilization failure will be discussed as well as approaches to patients who fail initial mobilization using cytokines or chemotherapy plus cytokines. The potential benefit of chemotherapy + G-CSF vs G-CSF for mobilization will be discussed. Finally the biology of novel rapid mobilizing agents such as AMD3100 will be discussed focusing on their role in the mobilization of both difficult to mobilize patients and those who fail initial mobilization with G- CSF or chemotherapy + G-CSF.
