DESCRIPTION
Nanotechnology takes the forefront of research to an ultra small scale. To get an idea of the scale where nanotechnology operates imagine a millionth of a millimeter. In this arena it is now possible to manipulate interactions of individual molecules, assemble molecular structures and build devices. The assembly of nanorobots that could be compelled to operate in this environment is predicted in the future and nanotechnology is being heralded as the new industrial revolution. How will medicine be affected by this technology? Are there any applications of nanotechnology that are being used in medicine today? Is there a down side to releasing nanoparticles into the environment? Nanotechnology, nanoparticles and their application to medicine will be discussed by three investigators in this field.
