DESCRIPTION
Interest in tracking undesirable outcomes of transfusion (hemovigilence) has been growing, and many programs have already been developed for such tracking. Blood collection facilities in America and abroad are now applying similar tracking programs to capture data about undesirable outcomes of blood donation. Blood collection organizations will share their experience tracking donor incidents including possible uses of this data for process improvement, for supporting or refuting proposed changes in regulation and for determining if other changes impact donor safety. Attendees are invited to discuss pros and cons of sharing such data among blood collection facilities in this country and with collection organizations outside America.
