DESCRIPTION
Recently, transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) has seriously impacted donor eligibility at blood centers nationwide. Find out what the likely causes of TRALI are and ways to reduce the risk to patients. Emerging diseases, new technology, and scientific discoveries often challenge a blood center?s ability to recruit blood donors and collect blood products. Northern California Community Blood Bank was one of the first blood centers in the nation to no longer use plasma collected from women and redirect all of their female platelet donors. Learn how they redeveloped their recruitment program and educated donors about TRALI.
