DESCRIPTION
Have you noticed that approaches using molecular biology techniques frequently are being used to overcome limitations imposed by classic hemagglutination? In this event, one lecture will describe how several polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based assays are performed, followed by an indepth discussion of the results. The speakers will illustrate how these approaches are coming your way to help resolve long-standing problems that cannot be resolved by hemagglutination. The lectures will include illustrative case studies. Applications of DNA-based testing for blood groups and their impact on patient care will be discussed in this session.
