DESCRIPTION
This is a session focusing on the various forms of systemic conditions that lead to acute kidney injury (formerly acute renal failure) and concurrent upper or lower respiratory tract injury manifested as hemoptysis or other symptoms. The immunologic pathogenesis of these conditions will be discussed and the rationale to consider therapeutic apheresis as a logical therapeutic measure. There will be discussion of current and landmark clinical trials that involve the use of apheresis medicine as part treatment.
