DESCRIPTION
Neonatal patients require specialized testing and blood products for transfusion. In addition, there are specific regulations that guide blood bank practice in this patient population. In this audioconference, the transfusion of neonatal patients will be discussed from the perspective of the blood bank and from the practicing clinician. Additionally, adverse events due to transfusion will be reviewed, including transfusion-related acute gut injury (TRAGI) and incompatible plasma.
