Description
This audio conference is designed as a review of donor testing for those who are not actively working in a laboratory performing infectious disease testing. The speakers will review the methodology and performance of the current screening and confirmatory assays and their impact on blood safety.

  • Describe the confirmatory test for each of the blood screening assays.
  • List the mandated and commonly performed assays for blood donor screening and the reactive rates of each.
  • Name the equipment used for blood donor screening.
  • Outline the role of NAT testing versus serology in detecting the presence of infectious diseases in a blood donor.
