Description

OBJECTIVES:
  • Review factors supporting blood donor screening for Dengue virus in Puerto Rico and performance characteristics of a prototype nucleic acid test for Dengue virus detection
  • Describe the evolving West Nile virus (WNV) epidemiology in North America and understand the impact of varying trigger strategies for WNV nucleic acid testing.
  • Assess clinical symptoms associated with WNV infection through a survey of a 5-year cohort of acutely infected U.S. blood donors.
  • Analyze the genetic evolution of WNV during the 2006-2007 epidemic seasons in the US.
