Description

OBJECTIVES:
  • Explain the effect of filtration of blood through prion reduction filters on the quality of the red blood cells.
  • Explore the mechanisms by which pathogen reduction affects factors important for leukocyte immunogenicity.
  • Assess the ability of novel storage containers, additive solutions and processing devices to preserve red blood cell integrity during storage.
  • Evaluate the impact of a 24-hour hold of whole blood on the quality of components produced by the PRP method.
