Description
Applying the CMS billing and coding rules to manual and automated billing for transfusion service can be challenging. The best way to bill depends on the particular circumstances, products used, and billing software. This session will provide an overview of inpatient and outpatient billing, changes in billing for 2011, and practice selecting appropriate codes as well as time for audience questions. Topics include problem areas such as antigen typing, irradiation, and prepooled components.

  • Differentiate between billing and coding for inpatient and outpatient blood components and transfusion services.
  • List changes to reimbursement for blood components and related services for 2011.
  • Select appropriate billing codes in inpatient and outpatient billing.
