Ziyan Zhu
Description
The implementation and use of molecular screening methods would be predicted to have a significant impact on donor screening and identification of rare donor units. This session will explore screening approaches currently applied in US, France, Brazil, Germany, and China. The program will highlight population-specific challenges, antibody production, HDFN, and address communication, standardization of testing, and a vision for the future.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Assess the different antibody specificities and unique challenges in different populations.
  • Explore hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn; prevention, treatment, and challenges.
  • Review the history, ethnic diversity, international relationships and impact of globalization on rare donor programs.
