Description
Medical directors from blood collection facilities will discuss information relevant to the learning objectives using examples from recent experience to provide a broad template for appropriate management of issues for which guidance is lacking or not explicit. The format will be lecture with presentation of real-life scenarios.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Determine the factors considered for decision making in the absence of guidance.
  • Discuss what donors may need to know that we are not currently telling them in order secure appropriate consent.
  • Identify areas where regulations do not exist to guide operational decision making in blood collection facilities.
  • Recognize several common areas where decisions are required in the absence of guidance.
