Description
So you think you have a disaster plan? In this session, you will hear details from facility representatives with experience of real disasters that might make you think again! You will hear about the actions they had to take and improvements that were made to their own plans in light of their experiences. There will be discussion of resources that could have helped mitigate the effect of the disasters, and what should be done after the disaster in the recovery phase. We will hear different perspectives from hospital-based cell therapy laboratories, donor centers and transfusion services from different parts of the US and from an international facility. There will be discussion of what assessors should be looking for in the disaster plans of accredited facilities.

  • Analyze your facility's emergency plan for effectiveness and efficacy and make changes accordingly before disaster strikes.
  • Describe the actions that must be performed after the disaster.
  • Determine why an effective disaster plan is essential.
