Effectively Welcoming New Employees
Description
New employee orientation programs that inspire and motivate are instrumental in familiarizing new employees with the culture of the organization. These programs, in combination with training programs that encourage existing employees to integrate new employees effectively into their teams, positively impact employee retention. After implementing several training programs, this organization experienced a significant reduction in employee turnover. In this audioconference, the speakers discuss their efforts to create motivating and stimulating orientations and to design training programs aimed at meeting the needs of new employees during their first few months on the job.

  • Describe key elements of an orientation program that engage and excite new employees.
  • Discuss ways to involve existing employees in welcoming new employees and making them feel part of the team.
  • Review tools used to measure the effectiveness of orientation and integration programs.
