Description
The days of walking through the lab with a clipboard recording daily temperatures may soon be numbered as more laboratories install electronic temperature monitoring systems. Participants in this session will learn about the features of such systems and hear the logistics of installing a system from a lab that made the transition. Ever wonder if enough has been done to validate your pneumatic tube system for the delivery of blood products? Key elements of a validation plan and considerations for the ongoing monitoring of the tube system will be shared. The last half of the session will be devoted to a discussion of current topics in the transfusion service. Discover what other labs are doing as the audience is surveyed using audience response system technology.

  • Discuss current "hot topics" and practices relevant to the transfusion service.
  • Discuss electronic temperature monitoring systems and the logistics of moving from paper record keeping to an electronic monitoring system.
  • Identify key elements of a Pneumatic Tube System Validation Plan and ongoing assessment of a system used for blood product delivery.
