Description
What are the emerging genomics technologies and applications since the sequencing of the human genome in 2003? Personal genomics has remained controversial with proponents looking to endless possibilities and opponents emphasizing the limited value of current applications. This session will introduce attendees to the latest genomics approaches, including next generation sequencing (NGS), genome wide association studies (GWAS), RNA-seq, exonome sequencing, ChiP-seq and genome resequencing. Examples of the use of these technologies to answer questions relevant, or of potential interest to, transfusion medicine practice will be presented.
