Description
This session will include an overview of US biovigilance activities to date and those in development and an opportunity to hear reports from the experiences of individual hospitals and blood centers that have implemented hemovigilance locally.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Describe biovigilance and the systems that are in place or in progress to achieve biovigilance in the US.
  • Describe how transfusion safety officers can support hemovigilance activities.
  • List an intervention that has been implemented based on the use of hemovigilance data.
  • List benefits for hospitals to participate in the Hemovigilance Module of the National Healthcare Safety Network.
