Making More Into Less and Less Into More: CAPA Prioritizaition in a Blood Center
Description
In the fast-paced day-to-day operations of blood centers and transfusion services, corrective action management is viewed not necessarily as a pillar of continual improvement that everyone wants to do; rather, it is viewed many times as a "paper-pushing" exercise. This perspective results from a lack of a systematic tool that promotes the ability of an organization to manage events differently in terms of conditions of frequency and impact. This session will introduce some tools that participants might choose to implement to assist them in corrective action prioritization, as well as provide practical applications within both transfusion and blood services

  • Describe an application of these prioritization tools within a transfusion service.
  • Explain an application of these prioritization tools within a blood center.
  • Review tools that allow for the prioritization of corrective action in terms of isolated events or potential systemic issues.
