Description
First-time supervisors "promoted from within" often manage only as they have been managed. Unfortunately, if the tried is no longer true - or even worse, if the tried was never true - this approach fails. As a result, first-time supervisors are left wondering what went wrong with nowhere to turn. This is because many individuals do not receive management training when they are promoted. This presentation will show how AABB's Quality System Essentials can be used as a guide for day-to-day management activities. While this session is designed primarily for newly-promoted managers and those considering a move into a management, seasoned managers may find value in this approach as well.

  • Identify and describe opportunities for professional development as a manager.
  • Illustrate how to use the Quality System Essentials as a management tool.
  • Present a set of templates for three key management skills: of how to manage time, how to manage projects and people.
