Emergency management of warfarin-associated coagulopathy in patients
Description
Very little consensus guidance is available on use of plasma to treat clinical coagulopathy, and its use versus use of specific coagulation factors remains highly controversial. This session hopes to address practice variation regarding plasma and factor use in relevant clinical settings. The focus will be to present available data to support particular practice standards. Cost and potential for adverse reactions with each practice will be discussed.

This session offers Self-Assessment Module (SAM) credit. Please complete the post test to receive SAM credit.

  • Assess the benefits/disadvantages of NovoSeven and PCC use to reverse warfarin or treat the bleeding patient.
  • Discuss the role of plasma in truamatic resuscitation.
  • Review urgent/emergent reversal of warfarin-associated coagulopathy-role of plasma.
