Blood Administration the Flows to Perfection
Description
This program will describe how your facility may incorporate lean in everyday work to begin to transform your organization. Are you interested in learning how lean can be used to decrease blood product waste or reduce blood administration and adverse reaction reporting errors? This program will include examples of how lean can be used to identify blood product waste. Other examples of lean in practice will be shared, and will demonstrate how lean was used in the patient care areas to improve not only the blood administration process itself but also the recognition and initiation of suspected transfusion reaction workups.

  • Describe how lean tools can improve the blood administration process and recognition and initiation of suspected transfusion reaction workups.
  • Describe the goal of lean.
  • List 2 examples of waste that are eliminated with the application of lean.
