Evaluating and Implementing New Reagents
Description
Have you ever considered the processes involved in the manufacture of blood bank reagents? Have you been faced with selecting and evaluating a new reagent? In this program, the speakers will examine how products are designed and the process of reagent production. The speakers will also discuss the issues to consider when evaluating new products to ensure that your needs are met. The session will include practical information and examples.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Describe the process of manufacturing blood grouping antisera and red cell reagents used in blood bank testing.
  • Discuss elements for planning a successful implementation in your laboratory, from updating procedures and processes to helping staff be prepared for the use of new reagents.
  • Discuss FDA requirements for reagent raw materials and release of reagents.
  • Outline design of an evaluation plan for new reagents, including setting specifications and defining a test plan.
