Description
The introduction of ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories-Particular Requirements for Quality and Competence-offers new challenges for the improvement of Quality Management Systems. This session will discuss the forces driving these new quality standards and compare the standards with the AABB Blood Bank/Transfusion Service standards. Methods will be presented for assessing your current QMS to ISO 15189.

- Compare and contrast ISO 15189 to AABB's BB/TS standards.
- Describe trends in expectations for quality management systems in medical laboratories and hospitals.
- List methods to assess existing lab quality management systems.
- Summarize ISO 15189 and CAP General Laboratory accreditation.
