Description
This session will provide attendees with updates to the main initiatives being undertaken by the Armed Services Blood Program and the potential impacts they will have on the program. The Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize significant contributions to the Armed Services Blood Program's mission and vision will also be presented during the session.

  • Identify current major developments affecting the Armed Services Blood Program, including expanded use of frozen RBC inventory, research initiatives (frozen platelets and lyophilized plasma); and procurement of a new BECS.
  • Report on DOD (Department of Defense) medical support efforts in the global War on Terrorism.
