Description
This session will include an overview of US Biovigilance activities to date, reports on those in development and an opportunity to hear the experiences of individual hospitals and blood centers that have implemented hemovigilance locally. Transfusion safety officer involvement in bio/hemovigilance will be featured in one of the presentations.

  • Describe how transfusion safety officers can support Hemovigilance activities.
  • Describe the US Biovigilance Network and the progress that has been made to achieve biovigilance nationally.
  • Discuss benefits for hospitals to participate in the Hemovigilance Module of the National Healthcare Safety Network.
