Description
In today's blood centers and transfusion services, information management is key. Doing more with less is an ongoing requirement. Reportable QREs continue at a steady rate and are most frequently the result of human error and process control. Placing more attention on the near-miss events and setting processes in place will facilitate the prevention of the QRE consequence. This session will give an overview of QRE problems and provide some proactive steps that blood centers and transfusion services are taking to decrease these types of errors.<

  • Explain what actions are being taken proactively by transfusion services to decrease QREs.
  • Identify proactive actions being taken by blood centers.
  • Provide an overview on the current challenges of quarantine release errors (QREs).
