Description
How can colleges address the unique support needs of students from foster care, who are enrolling in community colleges in greater numbers? Recent policy and practice advances promise new opportunities for improved approaches to supporting these students. The California Community College Chancellor’s Office is improving outreach to its students statewide. Trained liaisons are implementing effective outreach and support services. City College of San Francisco, which serves more than 200 students from foster care, has been recognized for its innovative support model. Key components of these programs will be presented and the new “Supporting Success” framework provided.
