Description
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify three factors a court will use to determine if the expert is qualified to give testimony on a particular issue.
2. Define the five billing and records issues which represent pitfalls for the nurse expert.
Today's nurse expert is faced with potential pitfalls in expert practice. These pitfalls include issues related to qualifications, billing and records, preparation and testimony, as well as ethical and potential other repercussions. When the expert does not avoid these it can impact the expert's practice and license. This session will identify the specific pitfalls facing the nurse expert, the consequences of failing to avoid them and will discuss ways in which the nurse expert can avoid them.
