Description
As mobile technologies become more prevalent, academic libraries are beginning to launch mobile software applications to meet the needs of its users. Library mobile apps allow patrons to access information via smart phones and tablet computers with ease. The presenters will discuss the planning, implementation, marketing, evaluation, and revision processes that have taken place since the inception of Cedarville University's Centennial Library mobile app, which was launched in the spring semester of 2011. Known as "CULib2Go!" the library mobile app was developed through a coordinated effort between Cedarville library representatives and Boopsie, a software design company that specializes in the creation and development of library mobile applications. Boopsie software allows for libraries to branding their logo, custom colors, unique images and artwork. The library app design also permits academic libraries to feature unique content such as hours of operation, reading lists, calendars of events, links to specific databases, and links to library social networking portals. Monthly statistics are available to track mobile app user behavior.
