From the influence on choice of dentistry as a career to the oral health status of Americans, this updated version of Trends in Dental Education, published by the American Dental Education Association, examines a variety of directions that dental, allied dental, and advanced dental education have taken over the years.
Compiled from a wide variety of sources and analyzed and interpreted by our experts, the data is interpreted in meaningful ways that show us where dental education has been and where it is going.
The data are regularly updated and can be searched by category or key word. It is made available by the American Dental Education Association for the noncommercial purpose of scientific and educational advancement.
The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is committed to programmatic efforts to interest dental students in academic dental careers, as well to decrease the number of faculty vacancies and improve the quality of life for current faculty members. Over the years, a significant corpus of articles has been generated by ADEA, particularly by the Journal of Dental Education (JDE) and others who are concerned about the shortage of dental faculty.
The articles in this compendium are a small part of a larger body of knowledge but nevertheless provide an important archive of significant literature pertaining to this important issue.

EHC's Mission
Explorehealthcareers.org is a free, multi-disciplinary, interactive health careers website designed to address workforce shortages in the health professions. Administered by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), this website is a non-profit, collaborative initiative involving national foundations, professional associations, health career advisors, educational institutions, and college students. Our mission is to help solve two urgent problems in American health care: the under-representation of minorities in the workforce, and the lack of health professionals in medically underserved communities. We hope to address these problems by helping more of today's students become the health professionals of tomorrow.
ExploreHealthCareers.org gives students a free, reliable, and comprehensive source of accurate, up-to-date information about the health professions. This includes information on and links to health-related education/training programs, financial aid resources, specialized learning opportunities, and current issues in health care.
By helping as many students as possible find a health career that suits them, we hope to help build a stronger health workforce. The health professionals of tomorrow will be highly skilled, motivated, and as diverse as the patients they serve.
They'll also be committed to making our country's health care system first-rate, and equally accessible to everyone in this nation.
