Description
What better way to understand good doctoral research in consulting than to dialogue with the most prominent scholars in the management consulting field? With Dr. Edgar Schein as the guest speaker of this session, both doctoral students and faculty alike will have the opportunity to listen, learn and dialogue around current and desired consulting issues. The purpose of this session is to encourage doctoral students, researchers, and academics from all divisions to develop their work and enhance their research agendas, through dialogue with Dr. Edgar Schein. Within the topic of current and needed Management Consulting research, time for sharing of research projects from previous Academy of Management conference sessions will be discussed. Schein is a Sloan Fellows Professor of Management Emeritus and continues at the Sloan School part time as a Senior Lecturer. He is also the Founding Editor of "Reflections" the Journal of the Society for Organizational Learning devoted to connecting academics, consultants, and practitioners around the issues of knowledge creation, dissemination and utilization. Questions to encourage the audience component of this session include: 'What constitutes good research in the consulting? What are the applicable research approaches in consulting? What are hot research topics in this area, and which topics are not hot anymore? How can a young, aspiring, future academic in this field build a career? What are the do's and the don'ts you have learned in your consulting career?
