Description
MOC DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR: C. MARLENA FIOL - We honor and celebrate the numerous and significant contributions of a leader of our field and one of the founders of the special interest group that ultimately became the MOC Division. C. Marlena Fiol, Professor of Strategic Management at the (Business School) University of Colorado Denver, is renowned for her outstanding theoretical and empirical contributions to our understanding of organizational cognition, identity and learning. Her research has highlighted the impacts of managerial-organizational cognition and identity on strategic decision making, sensemaking in organizations, strategic change, and entrepreneurship. Prof. Fiol is at the forefront of an influential group of people who are applying theory and findings of linguistics, semiotics and cognitive psychology to organizations. We look forward to Prof. Fiol addressing us in our Welcome Session as our 2009 Distinguished Scholar.
